Sue O. Medina
Director
Network of Alabama Academic Libraries
Sue O. Medina, director of the Network of Alabama Academic Libraries, works with outstanding academic librarians to ensure that Alabama students and faculty members have the highest quality library resources and services they may need for their instruction and research. Since its creation in 1984, NAAL has been considered an exemplary model for library cooperation. Its participants include all of Alabama’s public and private non-profit four-year colleges and universities. Together, they have significantly improved the delivery of library services and resources statewide. Of particular note is NAAL’s leadership to conceive a statewide virtual library and build the effective statewide coalition that successfully advocated state support for the Alabama Virtual Library.
Dr. Medina earned her Ph.D. in Library Science from Florida State University. Her advanced studies focused on organizational role and change. She also has an M.S. in Library Science and a B.A. in History. Her personal reading interest is the role of the Mongols in the transfer of culture between the east and west, a topic she finds hard to work into any conversation!
